About

PIQs are the best way for admissions staff to get to know you as a person, so you want to put time into this process. In the age of AI, it might be tempting to outsource the written sections of your UC application to ChatGPT or a similar app. DON'T DO IT! I've heard it straight from a UC admissions worker: writing that feels like generic AI slop places you behind the students who write stories from their personal experience, including their own thoughts and opinions. Many students who attended these workshops last year were accepted by multiple UCs, and we'll look at some examples of PIQs they spent weeks drafting. In Part 1 of this series, we'll talk about the PIQs in general, how to approach personal experience prompts, and begin forming a writing plan. Then, for the rest of the sessions, you'll have the opportunity to write, get on-the-spot feedback, and revise your individual answers.
