Join Turtle Island Restoration Network (TIRN) and Galveston Island Nature Tourism Council (GINTC) for a meaningful event in Galveston to celebrate Houston Bird Week ! Join us and embark on an action-packed adventure with TIRN and GINTC. GINTC will lead an outing that will explore the wonders of the Preserve’s half mile trail while learning about the plants and animals that call it home. Following this TIRN will lead a beach cleanup adjacent to the East End Lagoon and explain the connectivity between habitats and how plastic pollution and marine debris impact nesting shorebirds and sea turtles alike. When: September 26th 8:00am: Arrival 8:30am: GINTC East End Lagoon Wonders 9:30am: Beach Cleanup with TIRN Where: East End Lagoon Nature Preserve, Boddeker Rd, Galveston, TX 77550 What to Bring: Binoculars (if you have them), Water in a reusable bottle, a friend & close toed shoes! Sign up for this FREE event! ***The trail at the East End Lagoon Preserve is ½ mile long consisting mostly of compacted soil and occasionally small rocks. There is minimal shade, but there are several benches throughout the trail, in the grass. The parking lot has one accessible parking space, subject to wind driven sand, and one accessible port-o-potty. RSVP here!
