Cult Movie: Sunday Matinee Movies: Chicken Run
About
Chicken Run is a wickedly funny, clever movie, which manages to be both kind and sweet. This is the first feature-length movie by Peter Lord and Nick Park, who created the wonderful Claymation, stop-action Wallace and Gromet movies. The movie opens with a spoof on World War II prison pictures such as "The Great Escape", but of course with chickens - specifically a chicken named Ginger. Ginger has tried and failed to escape the egg farm run by Mr. and Mrs. Tweedy, but ends up being caught and thrown into the coal bin time after time. But when Rocky the Flying Rooster arrives there is hope that all the chickens will learn the tools to escape before being turned into chicken pot pies! Doors open at 2:00 PM, and movie begins at 2:10 PM Adults need to stay in the room with their children.
