About
CS Coding Club is an immersive, two-semester after-school computer science program designed for beginners and curious creators. Meeting once a week for a two-hour session, students progressively build their programming and computer science skills through hands-on projects. No prior coding experience is required. Semester 1: Game Design & Advanced Programming Students begin with MakeCode Arcade, a block-based coding platform for creating and programming their own retro-style video games. They also progress through increasingly advanced Scratch projects, strengthening their understanding of programming logic, variables, conditionals, loops, events, and computational thinking through game design and interactive projects. Semester 2: Physical Computing & Machine Learning Students advance to Micro:bit, exploring sensors, physical computing, and event-driven programming to learn how code can respond to inputs and control outputs in the real world. They also explore Machine Learning, learning how data and models can be used to create intelligent, interactive experiences. Throughout the program, parents receive bi-weekly feedback on topics covered and student progress. At the end of each semester, students complete an evaluation to reflect on their growth and receive a badge and certificate.
