In 2026, public historians have been reexamining the nation’s history and grappling with how to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary. Go behind-the scenes with curator Amy Noel Ellison to learn more about how The Spirit of ‘76 exhibit was made and how public historians choose which stories and objects to highlight. About the Program Amy Noel Ellison is the Curator and Director of Exhibitions at Los Altos History Museum. In addition to curating The Spirit of ‘76: Reflecting on America’s 250th at LAHM, she was also one of the guest curators for The Declaration’s Journey, a blockbuster exhibition commemorating the semiquincentennial at the Museum of the American Revolution. She earned her PhD in History from Boston University and has held curatorial and research positions at the American Philosophical Society in Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. $15/person, Free to members.
