Join the African American Authors discussion group to read and learn about books by authors of African, Caribbean, and African American descent. This group meets on the 4th Sunday of the month at Germantown Library. This month the group is discussing Good Dirt By Charmaine Wilkerson. Good Dirt by Charmaine Wilkerson spans generations and continents in a rich narrative about legacy and healing. It centers on Ebby Freeman, whose childhood was shattered when masked intruders killed her brother and broke her family’s heirloom—a stoneware jar crafted by an enslaved ancestor. As an adult, after her fiancé abandons her on her wedding day, she flees to rural France. There, amidst flashbacks to her family's past and the storied jar "Old Mo," Ebby confronts trauma, uncovers ancestral stories, and begins to piece together forgiveness, identity, and resilience.
