Bezel Setting with Cabochons & Independent Study
About
In this beginner class, each student can expect to design and fabricate a unique sterling silver stone set ring. Students will learn foundational silversmithing techniques- cut metal with the jewelers saw, sand, file, anneal, stamp, form, solder, create a bezel cup, patina and polish in order to fabricate their final product. This class is a great opportunity to learn a new skill or brush up on existing metalsmithing skills. All levels of experience are welcome. Materials and tools are provided with the cost of the class, but you are welcome to bring your own cabochons and supplies. If this will be your first ring and you would like to purchase your own cabochons to use in the class, please buy oval or circular. The Jewelry Studio is located on the upper floor, with stair access only. For accommodations requests or accessibility questions, please contact rpdaccess@sfgov.org or 415-831-6841. Please note that submitting your request at least two weeks before the beginning of the class will help ensure availability.
