Rainey Strauss: re(COMPOSING)
About
Rainey Straus's work begins with walking and paying close attention to the living world. re\(Composing\) looks at fungi and how matter breaks down into something new. Straus shreds and pulps paper, casting it over found wood, echoing how wasps chew wood to build nests. Bioplastic forms, spun like spider silk, weave through the casts. Instead of showing ecological change, the work becomes part of it: matter reshaped into something fragile and alive.
