Children ages 7-10 will learn about the parts of the brain, their functions, and how the brain sends signals and works with the body through hands-on activities including making and painting clay models of the brain, doing worksheets, and playing games. Attending all 3 sessions is encouraged but not required. Limited to 15 youth with tickets. How to Attend: Families will need to get one ticket per participating child for each session they attend on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tickets for 15 youth will be available at the Greeter Desk starting 30 minutes before the program. Accompanying family members can attend without tickets. Session 1 (Sep 6th): Meet Your Brain (Community Room) Activities: Explanation of the brain and neurons Build a neuron with clay (cell body, nucleus, dendrites, axon) and decorate the neuron with glitter Brain Signal Game Color/label own brain diagram on paper Session Goal: Kids understand what the brain does, what a neuron is, and can identify the basic parts of a neuron Outcome: Kids take home their own glittery, clay neuron model and a labeled brain diagram Session 2 (Sep 13): Inside Your Amazing Brain (Picture Books Area due to Book Sale; space may be limited) Activities Verbal explanation of brain function (what the brain controls: seeing, hearing, thinking, feeling, moving, talking) Simon Says brain-function game Coloring worksheet of the brain with labeled parts "Drawing Inside Your Brain" activity (favorite things/memories) using crayons/co
