Date : Tuesday, September 8, 2026 Time : 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Meeting Location : Kingman and Heritage Islands Park : 575 Oklahoma Ave NE, Washington, DC 20019 (Map) The Stadium Armory Metro Station is 1.1 miles away from this location (about an 21 minute walk) Parking is available at this location Project : You will help AWS with a Mussel Bottom Cage Workday at Kingman and Heritage Islands Park! On this workday we will focus on bottom cage maintenance, which could involve cleaning accumulated mud out of the mussel cages and making cage repairs. The freshwater mussels will spend time in these cages as we monitor their growth over a span of time. Physical Level of Difficulty : Moderate to Difficult – This event will involve lifting, bending, and walking in mucky mud. Participants will be expected to wear waders for the duration of the event.
